Classic Navajo Man's Wearing Blanket, woven in handspun and raveled wool, in natural ivory and variegated brown, rich indigo blue, and a soft deep cochineal and lac dyed red, with a Chief's second phase pattern, composed of three separate sets of parallel bars against horizontal bands in contrasting colors, with a typical pattern of parallel lines, (repair to one edge), dye testing completed by Dr. David Wenger, of Thomas Jefferson University, confirms the red samples were dyed with cochineal and lac, the results of which will accompany the lot, 54 x 67 1/2 in. Provenance: Private collection, Ventura, California. Estimate $125,000-150,000 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
