Dodge Macknight (American, 1860-1950), "Coast of Brittany", watercolor on paper laid down on mat board, signed lower right "Dodge Macknight", exhibition label on verso from Portland Society of Art in Portland, Maine for Spring Exhibition 1912, which ran from April 20-May 18 with handwritten details noting work was from collection of artist Catherine Porter Talbot (American (Maine), 1859-1938) with title, artist and loaner's address. Horizontally-aligned coastal landscape painting depicting the coast of Brittany in France with brightly colored sloping purple and green hills with loosely rendered green trees by calm blue water in the Atlantic Ocean with small scattered boats under blue cloudy sky. Overall framed approximately 17.25" x 26.7". Sheet size (of painting not including attached mat board) 9" x 18.6".
