Gothic hand carved and gilt wood figural torchere with with recessed niche at top for candle, cylindrical body with floral rosettes at top border above six relief carved male robed figures, likely saints holding objects including staff and books above turned elements. Unmarked. Torchere top on a later cylindrical shaft. Overall approximate height 68.1". Provenance: Savoy Art & Auction Galleries, 18 E. 50th Street, New York as Lot 281 on Sale No. 814, Important Spanish and Italian Gothic and Renaissance Art, April 27th and 28th, 1962 whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
