German (Nuremberg), 18th century. An oversized brass alms dish of traditional round form with raised boss bearing gadrooned foliates, a band of repousse and chased inscription in Latin surrounding the boss, and punched floriform decoration to saucer rim. Approximate diameter 25.5", height 1.875". Provenance: A.R. Broomer, New York whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia in July of 2004.
