French/Flemish, early 19th century. A gothic revival carved oak hall bench or settle surmounted with an openwork carved fleur-de-lis cresting between patera blocks and foliate finials, the rectangular back with four panels carved with gothic tracery ornament over the hinged seat lifting to reveal storage within chamfered carved arms, the front with three panels similarly carved with gothic tracery and flanked by applied spiral turned pilasters, the sides with two panels carved with patera over a shaped apron and bracket feet.
