Grain-painted and Paint-decorated Tall Case Clock, Riley Whiting, Winchester, Connecticut, c. 1820, the wooden works housed in a grain-painted case simulating exotic wood and inlays, the dial identifying the maker with calendar and seconds hands surrounded by colorful floral details and gilding, (some restoration), ht. 88 in. Estimate $2,500-3,500 The clock is colorful and appealing. The case paint looks good with little if any repaint. The fret has been expertly restored.
