Eight-piece Russian . 875 Silver Tea and Coffee Service, Moscow, c. 1868, Pavel Ovchinnikov, maker, Viktor Savinkov, assayer, monogrammed, comprised of a hot water urn, coffeepot, teapot, covered sugar, waste bowl, creamer, cake basket, and tray, urn ht. 20 1/2, tray lg. handle to handle 30 in., approx. 412.3 troy oz. N.B. "MM" monogram is similar to that on lot 69 though lacking the Imperial crown. Estimate $20,000-25,000 Tray with engraving removal to central cartouche (only date of 1876 remains). Other pieces are engraved MM. Cake basket with a possible secondary engraving that has been removed (slight indentation to surface, though no inconsistencies to surface thickness or gilding to interior- see images). Spout to urn with break (pieces present). Otherwise only light surface wear, few minor pinprick dents and abrasions. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
