Samuel Kirk . 917 Silver Tea and Coffee Service, Baltimore, c. 1830, each repousse chased throughout with floral sprays centering a cartouche with an engraved coat of arms, comprised of a coffeepot, two teapots, creamer, covered sugar, and waste bowl, coffeepot ht. 12 1/2 in., approx. 164.2 troy oz. Provenance: Purportedly passed down in the family of Alida Maria Van Rensselaer (1801-1832) and her husband Charles Holker Carroll (1794-1865). Estimate $2,000-4,000 Handles to coffeepot and one teapot with breaks at heat stops (handles off but present). Lids to both teapots off but present (one lacking pin and broken hinge element- this lid does not sit flush to base, the other with a break to hinge). Creamer and lid to sugar slightly different motifs than the rest of the service. Scattered minor dents and age-typical wear. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
