Paint-decorated Wooden Works Tall Clock, Riley Whiting, Winchester, Connecticut, c. 1831, the hood with flat cornice, paneled sides, and tombstone glazed door flanked by lambrequin corners opening to a white-painted wooden dial lettered with the maker's name and decorated with gilt-gesso spandrels, the arch with a scene of a town green, the seconds dial painted with blue drapery, with striking movement, on a dentil-molded waist lettered "SW" and dated "1831," with tombstone-shaped waist door, all on a molded and cutout bracket base, ht. 87 1/4 in.
