Needlework Coat of Arms "By the Name of Frye," early 19th century, worked in silk threads on a silk ground, the crest consisting of a spreadwing bird atop a helm and shield with three horses below, all surrounded by foliate elements, 16 x 11 1/2 in. (sight), in an ebonized and gilt frame. Note: The name Frye dates to at least 13th century England, and can be translated to mean "free."
