Pair of Chippendale Cedar Side Chairs, Bermuda, c. 1760-80, the shaped crest rails above pierced splats and beaded raking stiles, with slip seats on valanced frames and frontal cabriole legs ending in pad feet, refinished, ht. 38, seat ht. 18 in. Estimate $2,000-3,000 The pair of chairs are repaired but in good condition. One chair seems to have a small repair where the rear flat stretcher meets the raking rear legs. The other has some repairs to the stiles, the splat and the crest rail. This restoration is not very evident in natural light. The second chair has replacement glue blocks. Most of the elements appear to be the original pieces. The seat frames have plywood reinforcement. Each front corner of the seat frames are cracked and may have minor repairs. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging. Any condition statement given, as a courtesy to a client, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact.
