Italy, late 18th/early 19th century. A fine and impressive Baroque style mixed woods with walnut secretary bookcase cabinet, two-case construction, the upper heavily molded having a central scrolled split swan neck pediment above a shaped mirrored inset to the frieze and a pair of shaped mirrored doors opening to a shelved interior, the lower case with a slant fall front opening to a sliding, removable compartment with central shaped niche flanked by two short drawers over three reverse serpentine drawers raised on scroll carved bracket feet. The whole veneered and cross-banded with fabric lined interior to both cases. Approximate height 97.5", width 49.5", depth 19".
