White-painted and Paint-decorated Box with Drawer, Maine, c. 1811, the hinged lid opens to a well, above a single shallow drawer below, ht. 5 3/4, wd. 12 1/4, dp. 7 3/4 in. Note: Inscribed in pencil on the underside of the lid, "This box was made by my father Joseph Whitney/in 1811 when he was 15 years old. He painted it also./Henry A.
