Manner of Jan Anthonisz van Ravesteyn (Dutch, c. 1570-1657) Portrait of an Auburn-haired Gentleman in a Ruff Unsigned, ascribed to Jan van Ravesteyn on a modern presentation plaque. Oil on canvas, 24 x 18 in. (61.0 x 45.5 cm) framed. Condition: Lined, retouch, minor paint losses, craquelure. N.B. This portrait was shown to experts at the Netherlands Institute for Art History who suggested that the work might be by the hand of an artist from the southern Netherlands, possibly even Spain. Estimate $2,000-3,000 Framed dimensions are 31 x 25 x 3 1/4 in. Vertical line of craquelure at the tip of the sitter's nose. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
