After Michiel Janszoon van Mierevelt (Dutch, 1567-1641) Copy (partial) after a Portrait of William I, Prince of Orange Unsigned, attributed to Sir Anthony van Dyck on a presentation plaque. Oil on panel, 15 3/8 x 12 7/8 in. (39.0 x 32.5 cm), in an early ebonized Dutch-style frame. Condition: Panel augmented on all four sides and secured with canvas strips, retouch, craquelure, surface grime. N.B. The work at hand was reviewed from photographs by scholars at the Netherlands Institute for Art History who confirmed that this work is among many copies, partial copies, and variants of the Mierevelt portrait, and it is generally impossible to attribute them to a specific artist or copyist. Estimate $700-900 Framed dimensions are 26 3/4 x 23 7/8 x 2 1/4 in. A very faint, handwritten note affixed to the reverse. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
