English, late 18th/early 19th century. A fine Regency tortoise shell and silver piping tea caddy, the serpentine shaped hinged lid centered with silver shaped cartouche (blank) opening to interior fitted with two tortoise shell covered lids, the conforming serpentine body with shaped silver escutcheon over a shaped base on bun feet. Approximate height 5", base width 8", base depth 5.25".
