Group of Embroidered Sleeve Bands and a Collar, China, eight pairs (some attached), four single bands, and an ornamental collar, all decorated with auspicious flora and fauna, and additional butterfly and floral trim, lg. to 58 in. Provenance: Descended in the family of Dr. Marshall Hertig, an internationally noted medical entomologist who conducted research on disease bearing insects at the Peking Union Medical College, from 1923-1928, his wife Edwina Smiley Hertig, and their son Bruce Allerton Hertig to the present owner. Estimate $600-800 Holes to reverse of blue and yellow sleeve bands, stain spots to cream sleeve bands and untrimmed fragments. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
