Three Textiles, China, late 19th/early 20th century, a dark red velvet brocade with bats, peonies and peaches and a contrasting navy trim, a jacquard woven with scrolling flowers in gold, red, pink and blues, and a blue silk woven with floral sprays, size to 72 x 28 in. Provenance: Descended in the family of Dr. Marshall Hertig, an internationally noted medical entomologist who conducted research on disease bearing insects at the Peking Union Medical College, from 1923-1928, his wife Edwina Smiley Hertig, and their son Bruce Allerton Hertig to the present owner.
