Framed Handscroll Painting, China, possibly Qianlong period, depicting a hunting scene with archers on horseback chasing animals and games in a field with water and trees, with an inscription translated as "1789, Fall, inspired by Yiancaotang [a book of poems by Gao Zhao], Nanming sheng Cheng Zhiyuan" with seven seals including two by the artist and five possibly by collectors, ink and color on silk, framed and glazed, sight size 16 1/4 x 105 1/2 in. Provenance: Descended in the family of the present owner in Massachusetts through her grandmother who traveled to Asia in the late 1910s. Estimate $3,000-5,000 not examined out of frame, minor repairs and possible retouches visible under the glass, otherwise in good condition.
