Frans Van Severdonck (Belgian, 1809-1889) Rooster, Hens, Chicks, Ducks, and Pigeon in a Landscape Signed and dated "F. Van Severdonck ft. 1871" l.l., identified and signed in an inscription on the reverse. Oil on panel, 7 x 9 3/8 in. (17.6 x 23.7 cm), framed. Condition: Surface grime. Estimate $300-500 Framed dimensions are 12 1/2 x 14 1/2 x 1 3/4 in. Although the presentation plaque names the artist as J. Van Severdonck (for Joseph Van Severdonck), this appears to be a misreading of the first initial of the signature. Two narrow horizontal lines of surface abrasions to the l.r. edge, visible in slanted light. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
