Francis Henry Richardson (American, 1859-1934) Fishing Ketches on the Beach Signed "F. H. Richardson" l.r., with a partial label from a Salmagundi Club auction sale affixed to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 12 x 16 1/4 in. (30.5 x 41.3 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, surface grime. N.B. Salmagundi exhibition records provide titles, media, and exhibition years for works, but no dimensions. Since the work at hand is signed but not dated or titled, it was not possible to identify exactly when it might have been at the Salmagundi Club. However, one possible reference was Fishing Boats, Katwijk that was an oil exhibited in the1905 Annual Exhibition and Auction Sale of Pictures. Another work Beach at Katwijk was in a similar exhibition in 1916. Estimate $500-700 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
