Frank Henry Shapleigh (American, 1842-1906) Woodland Brook Signed "F. H. Shapleigh." l.r. Oil on card or thin panel, 10 x 7 in. (25.3 x 17.8 cm), framed. Condition: Minor surface grime. Estimate $800-1,200 Framed dimensions are 17 x 14 x 2 3/8 inches. Two small vertical incised lines at u.r. and l.l. corners that appear original to the work. The work was removed from its frame during preview, and it was found to be painted on card, similar to Academy board, painted grey on the reverse. The size is 10 x 7 inches. There are tack holes in the corners, and minor frame abrasions at upper center edge and upper left corner. It is possible that there is some varnish discoloration. The support is inscribed in pencil on the reverse with what appears to say, "#157 1/2 A" Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
