Important Sapphire and Diamond Ring, Cartier, c. 1950s, set with two square-cut sapphires measuring approx. 9.21 x 8.64 x 6.55 and 9.27 x 8.75 x 6.05 mm, in a platinum and diamond mount set with tapered baguette-cut diamonds, size 5 3/4, numbered, signed. Note: Accompanied by an Estimate for Insurance from Cartier Inc., New York, dated January 17, 1955; AGL document no. 1102037, dated July 10, 2019, stating that the sapphires are Kashmir, no gemological evidence of heat; and a Gemmological Report from Gubelin, no. 19072058/1 and 2, dated July 22, 2019, stating that the sapphires are Kashmir, no indications of heating. Estimate $300,000-500,000 According to the Cartier letter, the sapphires weigh 5.34 and 4.91 cts. Total diamond wt. 1.26 cts. Number in shank is slightly obscured but is apparently 13741. AGL has stated that these stones would be given the "Classic" designation if they were polished. Sapphires are abraded and scratched.
