Jonas Weber, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania painted pine dresser box, dated 1845 , the lift lid and sides with leaves and fruit, the front with a farm house flanked by trees above the name Jonas Weber , all on a dark blue ground, retaining its original wire hinges and tin hasp, 5 3/4" h. , 10" w., 5 3/4" d. This is the only known example signed by Jonas Weber. Pictured in Wendy Cooper and Lisa Minardi, Paint, Pattern and People , fig. 154. A similar example was also sold at Pook & Pook, Inc., Smith sale, October 2010, lot 68. Exhibition: Winterthur, 2011.
