Early Dark Blue-painted Chest over Drawer, Connecticut, early 18th century, the hinged lid opens above a well and arch-molded case of three faux and one working drawer, with heavy base molding and four turned feet, later paint, (imperfections, restoration to base), ht. 25 3/4, wd. 25 1/2, dp. 16 in. Provenance: Mary Wells; Lillian Cogan, 1986. Note: A later inscription in red paint on the bottom reads "C.I./Guilford." Estimate $3,000-5,000 hinges replaced. some parts on underside of base appear to have modern stain. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
