Chinese Export Oak Cabinet, early 20th century, the molded top on a case with two door opening to two rows of six drawers over a single wide drawer at the bottom, on carved paw feet, ht. 17, wd. 17 1/2, dp. 10 1/4 in. Note: According to correspondence provided with the cabinet, the case was constructed from white oak taken from the British ship Minden upon which Francis Scott Key composed the "Star Spangled Banner." The cabinet was owned by John Robinson who used it to store his coin collection before the collection was donated to the Essex Institute.
