Italian School, 16th Century John the Baptist Preaching. Unsigned, inscribed "Christ...Augustino Caracci," possibly after Agostino Carracci (1557-1602), in pencil on the reverse of the supporting sheet. Ink and wash on paper, 9 3/4 x 6 5/16 in., framed. Condition: Laid down on heavier paper embellished with a French mat, ink inscription on the reverse of the sheet has bled through but is not clearly legible, figures are lettered, possibly as a template for coloration.
