Claudia Borella Art Glass Bowl, New Zealand, c. 2000, fused, kiln-formed and wheel-cut glass, unsigned, ht. 1 1/2, dia. 19 in. Note: Originally trained as an industrial designer, Claudia Borella was introduced to glass during her studies at the University of Canberra. Borella lives and works in Wanganui, New Zealand, where she is President of the New Zealand Society of Artists in Glass. Her work is included in the collections of the Toyama Institute of Glass art, Japan; the Dowse Museum, New Zealand; the national Gallery of Australia, and the Glasmuseet, Ebeltoft, Denmark. From a broad perspective, my work operates on a metaphorical level, exploring the universal boundaries of language and semantics – sign and symbolism that can transcend cultural barriers to create a common dialogue or language. Over time my works are infused with cultural significance related to the places and cultures I have experienced. - Claudia Borella Estimate $2,000-3,000 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
