Hector Aguilar Sterling Silver Salad Serving Set, Mexico, late 1940s, handles decorated with a rope motif running from the trefoil bottoms to the necks, stamped Taxco, Aguilar hallmark, "sterling," eagle mark, lg. 8 3/4 in., approx. 6.0 troy oz. weighable silver. Note: Hector Aguilar Ricketson (1905-1986) apprenticed to William Spratling in Taxco, but soon set out on his own to produce objects using a design vocabulary drawn from Pre-Columbian traditions. Prospering in the decades of the 40s and 50s, the workshop crafted a wide range of tableware, decorative objects, and jewelry.
