Enamel and Diamond Plaque Brooch, c. 1925, converted from a buckle, centering an old European-cut diamond weighing approx. 1.50 cts., with bow and garland motifs set with old European-, old mine-, old single-, and rose-cut diamonds, on guilloche enamel ground, 3 1/8 x 2 1/8 in. Estimate $6,000-8,000 Reverse inscribed "To the glory of God and in loving memory of John Schureman Sutphen Oct. 23-1866-May 23-1925." One melee missing. Later pinstem, evidence of prior findings. Light scratches to reverse. Diamond is lively, clean under magnification. Cannot be graded due to mounted condition. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
