George Ames Aldrich (American, 1872-1941) River in Winter Signed "G. Ames Aldrich" l.l. Oil on Upson board, 30 x 36 in. (75.8 x 90.8 cm), framed. Condition: Good. Estimate $6,000-8,000 Framed dimensions are 38 1/2 x 44 1/2 in. Small, thread-like accretion to l.l. corner, which looks to be original to the painting and may be some stray paint. Another grey "drip" of paint on snow at edge of the water in the center right which also appears original to the work. No inscriptions on the reverse. Back of the Upson board shows wear to the upper right corner, with loss of some layers of the material. Please see photographs. Framer's label from Wright's Fine Art Center, Jackson, Michigan, and an unattributed typed index card with biographical information on the artist, both affixed to the frame backing paper.
