Josef Zasche (Austrian, 1821-1881) After Marie Mizzi Wunsch (Austrian, 1862-1898) Ein Wichtiges Geheimnis, Austria, c. 1880, porcelain depiction of two street children sharing a secret, copy from Wunsch's original oil painting by Josef Zasche and signed "Jos. Zashe, Wein," on reverse title and "M. Wunsch," sight size 10 1/4 x 6 1/2, frame 17 x 12 in. Note: Wunsch returned to this subject a number of times, this porcelain is based on a version sold at Christie's (South Kensington) on March 18, 1999. Estimate $600-800 The plaque is in very good condition with no evidence of any cracks, chips or restorations. The frame has had scattered retouch and repairs.
