Frank Weston Benson (American, 1862-1951) Ducks in Flight at Dusk Signed and dated "F. W. Benson 45" l.l. Watercolor on paper, sight size 19 1/4 x 24 in. (49.0 x 61.0 cm), framed. Condition: Subtle toning, not examined out of frame. Provenance: A private Massachusetts collection. Estimate $15,000-25,000 Subtle toning. There is a small stain, about 3/16 inch diameter, which could be original to the work, located at the u.c. edge. The paper may have slipped slightly in the mat, exposing an area of pale mat burn to u.l. corner and edge, and partially obscuring the lower part of the signature. Gummed label on the frame backing paper from Northeast Auctions annotated with the number "484" but no auction records were found to correspond to this work. Framed dimensions are 29 3/4 x 33 5/8 in. Label from Powers Gallery, Acton, Massachusetts, affixed to the frame backing paper. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
