Maurice Minkowski (Polish, 1881-1930) Portrait of a Woman in Blue Signed "M. MINKOWSKI" l.r., Polish government red wax seal on the reverse. Watercolor and pencil on paper/board, sight size 14 x 10 3/4 in. (35.6 x 27.3 cm), framed. Condition: Toned, minor scattered accretions, minor staining or similar to u.l. edge, not examined out of frame. Estimate $800-1,200 Frame was opened during preview. Work is signed "MMINKOWSKI" l.r. and dated "1922" l.l. Work is watercolor on paper mounted to paperboard. The mounting appears to be period. Staining, soiling, tack holes is u.l. corner, small accretion on the figure's cheek near her hair, gum arabic or similar applied over the watercolor. Customs stamp on the reverse. Also inscribed with the artist's name and date of 1922 on the reverse in the l.r. corner. Partial red wax seal with the crowned eagle and the words "PZADU...ST WARSZAWE" around the outer edge of the seal. Framed dimensions are 18 3/4 x 15 1/2 x 1 1/8 inches.
