Late Georgian Diamond Monogram Brooch, c. 1840, set with old mine- and rose-cut diamonds, silver-topped gold mount, 1 x 7/8 in. Note: With a family note stating that the brooch was purchased by Rear Admiral Theodorus Bailey, United States Navy, while serving on the frigate Constellation between 1840 and 1844, for his daughter Theodora Catherine Bailey. The Constellation served an extended tour of the East Indies during this period, and carried Bailey on his second circumnavigation of the world.
