Skull and Bones, Order 322, or The Brotherhood of Death, Yale University. Small archive of material formerly belonging to Charles Winslow Burpee (1859-1945), including: 12mo format printed directory of members, 1881, in contemporary morocco, with Burpee's name tooled in gilt on the front board; a large quarto-format photo album with Burpee's name on front board, bound in black pebbled morocco with clasp, 1883, containing nineteen photographs of the skull and bones, building, members, and two African American custodians of the club house, [together with] inserted ephemera; two 19th century prints depicting the society, Secret Societies, and Yale Biennial Examination; [and] a long bone (which may be a femur), with a carved inscription in Greek, a skull and cross-bones, the number 322, and the date 1881.
