Forrest, Edwin (1806-1872) Three Items. Including: two leaves, each inscribed on one side, autograph letter signed Philadelphia, June 10, 1861 asking that a friend from New York receive a commission of lieutenant in the regular army, matted and framed with a steel engraving of Forrest as King Lear; a commemorative medallion with a profile portrait of Forrest, head to left, his name and birth date on the front, and "Just to opposers and to friends sincere, rose by his own efforts," on the back Boston: Merrian, [1809], matted with a small portrait of Forrest and a play bill advertising a Tuesday evening performance of "Richelieu!" in New Hampshire, 1869; [and] Gabriel Harrison (1818-1902) autograph note signed whose content refers to a playbill advertising Forrest's performance in "Metamora" at the American Theatre, Bowery, in 1833 (Harrison painted a portrait of Forrest in the role), sizes vary (3).
