Two octavo volumes, Old Testament and New Testament title pages printed within woodcut compartment incorporating Barker's initials, separate title for the Concordances; both volumes interleaved throughout (paper watermarked 1808), some with the notes of the Reverend Isaac Taylor (1759-1829) of Ongar (with portrait); in older reversed calf, all four boards detached, spines perished, sewing failing; some headlines and side notes trimmed with loss, spotting, holes, other defects from heavy use; I: [pi]2, A-Z8, Aa-Oo8; II: Pp-Zz8, Aaa-Hhh8, *4, Iii2 (bound upside down), Kkk-Yyy8, Zzz10, A-I8, K9; 8 x 6 1/4 in. (2) The Geneva translation was prepared by William Whittingham, Anthony Gilby, Thomas Sampson, and others. It was the primary Bible of 16th-century English Protestantism, taken to North America on the Mayflower, and the translation used by Shakespeare, Donne, and Bunyan.
