State of New York Relic Belt Plate Found at Gettysburg, c. 1863, lead-filled brass plate with raised "SNY" and border, back has puppy paw tabs with remnants of leather belt still attached, and a note on the back that says "Gettysburg Battlefield," ht. 2 1/8, lg. 3 1/4 in. Provenance: The collection of Ron Tunison. Note: Attached to the buckle is a note card which says "I purchased this belt buckle in 1975 from the son of the fellow who found it in the 1950s on the Gettysburg Battlefield, Cemetery Ridge. It was found in the area where the 39th N.Y. Infantry fought." Estimate $200-300 Plate has damage near the "Y." In relic condition.
