Eagle Pommel Sword and Scabbard, c. 1850s, gilt-brass hilt with eagle pommel, ornate knuckle bow, and counterguard with foliate designs and an eagle with shield, steel blade with brilliant blue and gilt blade, with panoply of arms, eagle and banner, spine of the blade decorated with oak leaves, acorns, and gilt, and a leather scabbard with gilt-brass throat and drag, blade lg. 30 1/2, overall lg. 35 3/4 in. Estimate $3,500-5,500 Sword is in excellent condition with the majority of its original gilt finish, the blade is stunning with only a few small dark spots, and the scabbard is in excellent condition.
