British Sea Service Pistol Owned by Major General Benjamin Lincoln, c. mid to late 18th century, bore .60, walnut stock with storekeeper's stamp and crown over "6," brass fittings (side plate missing), replacement Spanish-style lock (not reconverted), barrel has a proof mark on left side of the breech, and an iron ramrod, barrel lg. 12, overall lg. 19 1/2 in. Provenance: Major General Benjamin Lincoln; by family descent to the consignor. Estimate $2,000-3,000 Stock has some dings and nicks, side plate was removed when the Spanish lock was fitted to the gun. The lock functions but the mainspring is weak.
