Early Pine Ball-foot Chest over Drawer, Massachusetts or Connecticut, early 18th century, the molded top with cleated ends opens on pintel hinges above a single arch-molded facade with drawer, on frontal ball feet and rear brackets, refinished, (imperfections and restoration), ht. 38 1/2, wd. 40 1/2, dp. 20 1/2 in. Estimate $500-700 the top appears to be an old replacement, as there is evidence of snipe hinges at the back of the case but not on the top, which is hinged on pintel hinges incorporating new cleats and a new strip of wood affixed to the outer top of the backboards. cracks and renailing to the single arch molding. drawer runners replaced. backboards original and slightly warped. The piece is refinished. It appears to have its original ball feet. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
