Turned Ash Burl Lidded Bowl, probably Ohio, 19th century, the bulbous body with line decoration on the exterior and straight foot, the turned lid with button handle, ht. 5 3/4, dia. 5 1/2 in. Provenance: Sam Forsythe, Columbus, Ohio. Literature: Illustrated and described in Steven S. Powers, North American Burl Treen, Colonial & Native American (Steven S. Powers Antiques: Brooklyn, 2005), p. 73, plate 3/13. Note: The bowl bears very close similarities to turned Peaseware vessels made in Ohio during the 19th century.
