Late Federal Carved Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Two-drawer Worktable, attributed to William Hawkes Jr. , Marblehead, Massachusetts, c. 1815-20, the rectangular top with ovolo corners above cockbeaded drawers flanked by half-engaged columns carved with flowers on a punchwork ground, all on ring-turned and acanthus-carved reeded legs ending in turned feet, ht. 28 1/2, wd. 20 3/4, dp. 18 1/4 in. Provenance: Skinner, Sale 2838M, Lot 1550. Note: This table is nearly identical to a worktable in the Mabel Brady Garvan Collection at Yale University. Estimate $1,500-2,500 top with minor evidence of shrinkage, minor veneer cracking. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
