Mahogany and Eglomise Patent Timepiece, William Cummins, Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1820, the painted iron dial inscribed "warranted by Wm. Cummins," with original tablets, the throat lettered "PATENT" above the lower tablet showing the goddess Amphitrite, (minor restoration), ht. 34 in., sold with an early trapezoidal pine box inscribed "Glass timepiece this side up" and labeled "original box for Curtis & Dunning banjo clock." Provenance: Skinner, The Estate of Malcolm S. Burroughs, October 27, 2000, to the present owner. Estimate $1,500-2,500 touch up to adges of dial and scatered areas of tablets; eagle finial replaced.
