Miniature Carved Serpentine-front Scroll-top Desk/Bookcase, Edwin R. King, New Bedford, Massachusetts, 1939, the upper section with shaped recessed paneled doors opening to pigeonholes and deep shell-carved drawers, the lower section with slant lid opening to a stepped interior of shell-carved drawers and compartments above a case of four serpentine graduated drawers, all on ogee bracket base, ht. 11, lower case wd. 5 1/4 in. Note: A handwritten note affixed to the inside of the bottom drawer reads: "A RE-PRODUCTION!/ THIS: KING-MADE! SERPENTINE FRONT (MINI-/ ATURE) SECRETARY DESK WAS MADE BY ME AT/ MY SHOP..." and is further inscribed and signed "156 Chestnut Street/New Bedford, Massachusetts/July 3, 1939/ Edwin R. King."
