Breitling Chronomat "Chrono-Matic" Reference 1808 Wristwatch, c. 1968, large stainless steel case with interior rotating slide-rule bezel, thirty-minute and twelve-hour subsidiary dials, calendar at 6, bright orange-tipped chronograph hand along with minute and hour hands, signed crown, 17-jewel caliber 12 automatic movement, screw-back case marked "11525/67/1808/1255235," dia. 48 mm. Provenance: This watch was purchased in 1970 by the current consignor. Note: The newly developed automatic chronograph, with micro-rotor movement and its crown on the left, was introduced as a caliber 11 from a calibration between Heuer, Breitling, and Hamilton-Buren, created to compete with Zenith's El Primero as the first automatic chronograph.
