William Helfricht Surveyor's Compass, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, mid-19th century, 6 1/2-in. dia. engraved silvered dial with acanthus-style leaf representing north and reading "Warranted" and "Wm. Helfricht Maker/Philadelphia," dual outkeepers at north, and a pair of sighting vanes, housed in an associated veneered box, lg. 16 in. Provenance: Richard Miller Collection. Estimate $300-400 lacking level, few bezel screws on underside are off but present. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
