English, mid to late 19th century. a Copeland Spode teapot decorated in the Tower Pattern. Teapot is decorated in cobalt blue transferware pattern depicting a hilly countryside with arched stone bridge, with a large turnstyle arched handle, lid with ball form knob, and a downturned spout with cleaved opening. Tower pattern was introduced c. 1814 and was derived from a printed illustration in the book "Views of Rome and Its Vicinity" published in the late 18th century. Marked on bottom "Copeland, Spode's Tower, England". Approximately 12.25" tall x 13.5" spout to edge.
