W. & L.E. Gurley Patent Solar Attachment, West Troy, New York, c. 1875, unmarked instrument with scale from 0-30 with vernier, housed in its original mahogany box. Note: According to Bill Skerritt, the patent was by William Schmoltz of San Francisco, in 1867. Gurley obtained the rights in 1874. This attachment was made for full-sized transits.
